About Us
Supporting NZ's packaging needs for almost 30 years
Mid-1990s
Contour Packaging was founded by John Wardenburg. He secured the Audion Elektro agency from Holland for European bench-top vacpackers. His son, Richard Wardenburg, owned a packaging company in Auckland.
December 1999
The Morren family moved to NZ from SA, bringing their expertise from a successful injection moulding business.
March 2001
After working with Sims Distributing in Tauranga, James Morren purchased Contour from John Wardenburg due to John's retirement.
2001-2003
James and his daughter Leone expanded Contour's customer base. They started a direct mailing marketing campaign and established a sales register. The product and consumable range of Contour expanded, including brands like Audion, Rotopack, and Sergeant Shrink wrap machines.
2003
Darryl Sobey joined as the first service technician. The company also began importing its own consumable products and built relationships with international suppliers.
2004
James and Greg visited the Audion head office in Holland, strengthening their long-term relationship. The same year, Conplas, Contour's manufacturing division, was established after importing an injection moulding machine.
2006
Greg Morren became a full-time member of the team, and Alvin Sobey joined the sales force. The company moved to shared premises at 1 Cessna Place, offering more space for operations.
2010
Cushla Petrie joined the team, focusing on hospitality customers.
2011
The company introduced a CRM system, purchased its own premises at 48 Whiore Avenue, Tauriko, and sales doubled every four years. The Enduro brand was also established and Trademarked.
2015
Contour transitioned from a business to a registered company, becoming Contour International Ltd. John Smith joined the sales team.
Jan 2021
The NZ government introduced a school feeding scheme, leading to a massive boost in demand for the Enduro brand of consumables. The company also introduced biodegradable trays and lidding film combinations.
Mar 2022
Contour moved to larger premises at 55 Paerangi Place due to significant growth.
2023
Emphasis on sustainability led to the introduction of Enduro Composting machinery. The company set a long-term goal to stock only recyclable or biodegradable products and started a Waste Minimisation Program. We launched our packaging and composting brand Enduro.
2024
Contour launched its Ecoblend range of electronic composters that break down food and packaging waste with heat, air, microbes and mechanical action. View the composters at www.ecoblend.nz.
